Cllr David Agbley (Retired)

I am happily married with four beautiful children-  two boys and two- twin girls. I have worked for the National Health Service (NHS) since 1993. I am currently employed as an Advanced Specialist -Healthcare Scientist (Clinical) at the Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics Department (Tissue Typing) in London.

• How long have you lived in Luton?

  I moved from London to Luton in 2004

• Which ward do you represent?

  I was elected as a Labour councillor in 2015 to represent the South Ward.

• Do you sit on or chair any boards?

  I am the Assistant to Cabinet Member for Fair Trade and delegated Tenant Participation. I am the Chair for Scrutiny Health and Social Care Review Group. I am the current Vice-Chair for both Overview and Scrutiny Board and the Licensing Committee. I was the Chair for Audit and Governance Committee and Vice-Chair for Administration and Regulation Committee in 2015/16

• Why did you become a councillor?

  I enjoy making a real difference to people’s everyday lives. Representing my local community and helping residents as a councillor is the greatest privilege. 

• What do you love about Luton?

It is ethnically diverse and has excellent transport link to the south and north of the country. Also, Luton has its own international airport.
