“Islamophobia is rooted in racism and is a type of racism that targets expressions of Muslimness or perceived Muslimness.”

  2. To consider the following motion which notice has been given in accordance with Standing Order 13.1 signed by Councillor Ali:

“In October this year Luton was recognised In the World Stage as a place from where Lord Qurban Hussain hails from. The Pakistani Government awarded Lord Qurban Hussain it’s highest award, namely the Sitara Quaid e Azam.

This award recognises the role that Lord Qurban has and is playing for a peaceful resolution to the Kashmir conflict and the efforts made to bring closer The UK and Pakistani government and its people.

Luton has the great privilege of having outstanding MPs and Peers. Where various governments have sent congratulations to Lord Qurban Hussain on this momentous occasion I believe that Luton Borough Council should also recognise and send its congratulations in a befitting manner at the discretion of Hazel Simmons and David Franks and John Young”
