• How long have you lived in Luton?
I have lived in the same house in Luton for 40 years. I was in Limbury until the ward boundaries were changed putting me in to Saints.
• Which ward do you represent?
I was elected as a councillor for Limbury in 2011 and re-elected in 2015
• Do you sit on or chair any boards?
Throughout my time as a councillor I have served on the Development Control committee currently as the Vice Chair and on the Local Plan Working Group helping to set the future planning policies for Luton up to 2031. I am currently on the Scrutiny Health and Social Care Working Group and participating in the joint scrutiny committees being formed to consider the Sustainability and Transformation Plan (STP) for Bedford Luton and Milton Keynes.
• Why did you become a Ccouncillor?
I became a councillor when I retired from the Ccivil Sservice in order to continue to serve the public with the time that was now available to me.
• What do you love about Luton?
I believe Luton is exemplary in its use of partnership working and rich in its culturally mixed community, a place I have been pleased to live and bring up my family.
• What issues are you most passionate about in your role as cCouncillor?
I believe the Local Plan is vital work in enabling the future success of the town, getting the right balance between housing and employment and successful inward investment that leaves the town a place people want to live and work. Health and Social Care is another priority area for me, in particular the need to successfully merge both
