- How long have you lived in Luton?
A Lutonian, I was born and brought up in Regent Street in the town centre and attended local schools and Luton College, as it was then called. Most of my employment has been for locally based companies including a branch office of a small London merchant bank and the UK head office of a huge multi-national company. My grand-parents and parents were politically very active. Father, an ex County Durham coal miner, and mother were both active members of the local Labour Party. A member of Luton Council since 1983, serving on committees dealing with a wide range of the council’s business, I am currently Liberal Democrat leader of the opposition at the Town Hall.
